News: Take-Two nets a cool $50,000,000

The Grand Theft Auto series means series bucks to the gaming industry- Microsoft recognises this. Following the news a few days ago that the downloadable episodic content for the forth coming Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, well now we know why. Microsoft was willing to smash the piggy bank and pay top dollar to ensure this system selling title on Xbox 360 will be the version to own- no less than $50,000,000. Apparently, the first $25m is for the first episodic content package, coming in March 2008. The other $25m is for the second package, which will be available later in fiscal 2008. Wow. Just wow.

Have i ever told you that i'm pleased i bought a 360 over waiting for the PS3? :)

And in semi-related news, Manhunt 2 has been outright banned in the UK...This is all because of clueless parents buying these type of games for their kids despite the huge 18 symbol, it's there for a reason! don't deprive mature adults of mature adult orientated games just because there is a slight risk of little Jimmy getting his hands on it. I'm all in favour of a "Behind the counter" type sale system for these kind of games.

I know the game's probably not that good anyway, but it's the principle that i'm talking about here. What do you think to this?

I completely agree mate- it's a shame to be honest. Just think aswell- if Manhunt came out as a film, would it have been banned? Is there that much of a difference? I think any mature person knows the difference between a game and reality- just because Manhunt is about killing, doesn't mean somebody who plays it will go out and kill someone. GTA should be rated 18 and that's right, however some people think it should be banned outright. It's ridiculous tbh.

You know what's also interesting- Hostel. As you will know, Hostel is a film about a killers/murderers club- killing for fun. Hostel came out, rated 18. Is that not very similar to what Manhunt is about?
