New content FTW! Tomorrow Epic will release a new map pack for Gears of War entitled 'Hidden Fronts.' The new maps will cost you a pretty reasonable 800 MSP, or... you could wait until September 3rd where they will then be free to download. The map pack contains 4 new maps. 'Bullet Marsh' offers you a Kryll infested swamp, and with the area lights powered by an old generator, you might want to be careful as a few stray bullets could easily knock out the power and leave you to make friends with the Kryll. 'Garden' is an overgrown and crumbling conservatory with a still working hazardous fertilisation and pesticide system so you might concider venting the air before venturing in. 'Process' is a still active subterranean Imulsion processing plant, and 'Subway' is Timgad's central subway station which used to serve as a central hub for commuters; now the tunnels are crawling with Locust. Looks like the best Xbox Live game on 360 just got better!

Well, i'll probably be getting XBL Gold to keep me occupied over the summer, but i think i'll wait until September and just get the maps for free. Seems pointless to announce that they are making them free in a few months, surely they've just lost loads of customers who would have shelled out for the maps by doing that. Not a good business move imo.
It's the same thing as they did with the Halo 2 maps though. It's all basically because Epic wanted the maps to be free, but Microsoft wanted them to be premium content. Therefore- this is the agreement that they settled upon. People that play Gears of War online a lot will probably pay for them, regardless if they know the date that they will be free or not. It's still quite a few months away. I'll probably download them as soon as really.
Btw mate- are you going to see Spiderman 3 on friday or pick up the game? I'm going to see the film and maybe pick up the game. I'm a big Spiderman fan. :)
Yup, i'm going to see the film sometime on Friday, i'm either going to go with Neil and a few others straight from college or go with my Dad at night. It'll probably end up being with my dad though considering Neil seems to have a habit of dropping out of going to the cinemas at the last minute. I'm expecting it to be sold out for all showings after 7pm at Cineworld, so if you go at night i advise you to pre book tickets ASAP, that's what me and my dad will probably end up doing.
I'm not bothered in the slightest about the game though, it'll probably end up being a crappy cash in. I know SM2 had a fairly good game version, but i seem to recall the last SM game that was made was pretty crappy.
PS: I prefer X-Men :P lol.
Yeah I'm going to pre-book tickets tonight. :)
The Spiderman 2 game was pretty good, but Spiderman 3 is supposed to be much better so I may check it out. It was just so fun swinging around the city-tops.
Oh yeah, by the way, cosidering you seem to like Ninja Gaiden so much, i think i'm going to buy it and try it for myself, it's pretty cheap now but what is the difference between 'Ninja Gaiden' and 'Ninja Gaiden Black'?
The difference between Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden: Black are very slight. Ninja Gaiden eventually got some downloadable content called a 'Hurricane pack.' Which, as far as I remember, just contained a few extra costumes and an extra weapon I think. NGB is basically the same game as the original, but with the extra content already on the disk as far as I know. Think of it as a bit of a GOTY edition. Get NGB if you can, but either will do just fine- and I'm sure you can still download the content using the origina version of NG through the in-game content downloader.
Btw- be prepared for a challenge. Ninja Gaiden is VERY hard, but very satisfying. It's one of the most satisfying games to complete.
Cool, i like a challenge anyway. Cheers for the info :) I'll pick NGB up after my exams have finished then. I also did a bit of research and apparently NGB has decapitations whereas the original NG had decapitations censored on the Euro release.
GoW2 is seriously brilliant by the way, i am absolutely loving it and certain moments have literally made me smile in amazement. I think i'd say it's one of my favourite games ever. It can be frustrating at times, but it's totally worth it. Considering you didn't seem fussed about the original i'd advise you to rent it or something, but you MUST play it. Definitely an early contender for my 'Game of the Year'.
Though it won't win GOTY with some of the games coming out this year. Probably best on PS2 though. :)
Saw Spidey 3 last night, enjoyed it, but i felt it went on a bit longer than it really should have and there wasn't enough of Venom in it for my liking, i give it 8.5/10, check out my MySpace blog if you're interested in my full review :)

I read your review mate. I would pretty much agree with your thoughts. The effects for the Sandman were prety immense and I did also feel that Venom could have played more of a part.
You going to be getting the game then? I have to admit, while watching the film i felt a strong urge to rent it and swing around New York, haha.
I got to Cineworld yesterday at about 6pm and all of the showings were already full! lol. So i had to go to the immensely crap VUE in Meadowhall. No leg room, small screen (compared to Cineworld), a scratch on the screen that's been there for years, a distinct lack of Surround Sound (i'm sure it was only in Stereo...), a shaky picture, and the top few inches of the screen were being projected onto the roof :/ Not impressed, never going there again, i'm totally getting a credit card to book tickets, lol.
This summer is going to be expensive for me, '28 Weeks Later' this friday, 'Pirates of the Caribbean 3' in 2 weeks, 'Die Hard 4.0' the week after that, and then 'The Simpsons Movie' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum' following soon after that. I'll probably not have any money for games, lol.
I also made the mistake of going to see it at Vue at Meadowhall. Reason? I could book tickets using my Maestro Solo. It is shite. Small-ish screen, same problem (at first) with the top part being projected off screen too. There was definately surround sound though. I was in screen 6 and went to the 13:00 showing- so I don't know if that was the same screen as you or not.
Oh and I don't know about the game. I didn't pick it up on Friday put it that way. Probably because I know I will very soon have to get a copy of the very shite Cackdown in order to play the Halo 3 beta.
Has this got any better? I played it on XBL when it first came out. I simply got tired of shooting someone 4 times with a shotgun (in the head region) and them not actually dying.
I think a mixture of frustration and bad understanding of the XBL multiplayer aspects made me throw my toys out.
Yeah- the shotgun does work better if you aim for the body rather than the head. With Gears of War- it takes time to learn how to play it properly. Give it more time, learn the maps, learn tactics, play as a team, gain a sense of anticipation for what the other team may do- and you should be fine.
OR, just do what i do and chainsaw everyone on the map, lol. I swear i've never killed anyone with bullets on that game. they should make it easier to kill people with headshots imo.
...the lancer could be more powerful. It can be tricky to lancer people from a distance- it gives people too much time to react to your fire...then take cover, out of harms way.
