News: Xbox Live Arcade and Memory Unit increase in size

Microsoft today announced that the limit for Xbox Live Arcade games will be increased, and a new larger memory unit will soon be available- at GDC (Game Developers Conference) in San Francisco. The new size limit is 150MB, increased from the original 50MB limit. As Xbox Live Arcade expands, and with new titles pushing the boundaries for the service- such as the upcoming Castlevania, (which was already given clearance to go above 50MBs prior to this announcement) Microsoft saw it necessary to introduce a larger size limit in order for future titles to reach their potential.

Also announced to day is that a new 256MB memory unit will soon be available. The new unit will be available in the US on April 3rd for $49.99, and will come with Geometry Wars; Retro Evolved pre-loaded on to the unit for a limited time. The regular 64MB unit will then drop in price to $29.99. Pricing details and date have yet to be announced for the UK and Europe. Unfortunately, there is still no sign of a new HDD announcement.
