The very first trailer for GTA IV was unveiled at 23:00 tonight and can be viewed here and last just over 1 minute. It seems to be set in Liberty City/New York, just like GTA III. Very little is revealed in the trailer, but we see the main character, and it is clearly recognisable as LC/NY. The actual title is still not known, other than GTA IV. I wonder why they decided to go with this setting again?

It is set in Liberty City, but thankfully i didn't recognise any of the buildings/roads, meaning that it isn't jut a next gen rehash of GTA3.
Looks pretty though, looking forward to getting this and Halo 3 for Xmas.
PS: Btw, I just gave in and pre ordered the Halo 3 Legendary Edition for £69.99, i couldn't resist, lol.
But why Liberty City again? If it's Liberty City AND other parts of Manhattan then that would be kool. I was a little underwhelmed with the trailer tbh. Didn't really reveal much.
Well, there is a ferry in the trailer, which has lead some internet freaks to believe that it may be Liberty City AND other areas that weren't on GTA3, obviously if it is just GTA3 with a new character and new graphics there will be hell to pay.
And come on, it was a TEASER trailer, it was never going to be that revealing, hence the word 'teaser'. Wait until the full blown trailer hits in a few months, i'm sure it will be a lot more revealing.
Oh yes, and apparently there was a sign that said "Ferry to Vice City $300", possibly meaning that you can actually travel to Vice City and potentially San Andreas. While none of the locations would be really that new, it's still better than it being set purely in Liberty City. Maybe all three locations will be included within a huge map, and then further locations to be made available via XBL in those expansions that Rockstar have talked about.
Yeah- maybe you will be able to visit other cities, or other parts of Manhattan. That would be pretty kool.
