News: Two more ways to play teh mighty beta test
If you are looking to join on to Halo 3 beta; there are now two more ways to secure a place (the other is signing up to a competition on one of Xbox's official fansites.)
Firstly- you must log onto Halo 2 between Feb 1st and Feb 3rd and play 3 hours online. Then you must head to Halo3.com and be one of the first 13,333 gamers to register for the 'Rule of Three.'
Alternatively- beta keys are to be given away free with specially marked versions of the upcoming game, Crackdown. Apparently you will be able to download the beta, when it is launched in Spring, in conjunction with the game disk.
Darn it- I might have to actually pick up Crackdown now. A demo will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace- Jan 12th.

I've just had an amazing idea! Instead of buying Crackdown (which looks decidedly average to me), i'm going to rent it from Blockbuster! The fools usually leave all the crap leaflets and things in the rental case, hopefully this will mean that the Halo 3 Beta invitation will still be in there too, lol.
This is how i originally got my GTA: San Andreas poster, haha.
Hold on there dude.
As far as I'm aware- the beta installation comes on the actual disk, rather than a leaflet. The beta activations will only be on marked copies of the game- so rental copies may not have the beta software. I'm not quite sure how the beta software will work, but as far as I know it's on the disk.
The game itself does look rather average- you're right- but still, a Halo 3 beta is too much to resist. :)
Most of the rental copies that i've had from Blockbuster in the past have just been the proper game but without the actual cover art. So it's possible that it'll be on the disc, but considering the Halo 3 beta will be in such high demand i suppose it's not unlikely that they will create a specific rental copy without the beta stuff. Here's hoping though!
Remember that the beta code that is on the disk will probably only be able to be used once- i.e for one person.
